Course Description:
This course is an analysis of incidents involving serious injuries and fatalities revealed that most occurred on Type 3 incidents. As a result, the Time Pressure Simulation Assessment was developed to test the ability of Type 3 Incident Commanders to react under time and pressure constraints. The assessment is a sand table simulation placing participants in simulated wildland fire situations and assessing their ability to: 1) select and utilize references; 2) establish command and control; 3) give instructions and solicit feedback; 4) recognize and react to changing conditions; 5) manage competing priorities; and 6) interact with another Incident Commander.
Objectives:
Test ICT3's to become certified competent and capable to perform the requirements of the position through a simulation assessment. The simulation is part of an evaluation process designed to reinforce correct procedures and actions.
Target Group:
Incident Commanders, Type 3 (ICT3)
Prerequisites:
Trainee Incident Commander, Type 3’s shall experience more than one trainee assignment prior to attending the simulation in order to prepare for success and a high standard of performance during the simulation.
