RT9013 - Incident Medical Specialist Training

Course Description:

This course covers the operation and management of the Field First Aid Station. It is designed to train new candidates as well as refresh currently qualified Incident Medical Specialist personnel. Content includes: Medication and Usage, Clinical Protocols and Procedures, Medical Emergencies on Incidents, Equipment, Preventative Care, and Social/Cultural Concerns.

Objectives:

To work and/or manage a Field First Aid Station as an Incident Medical Specialist.

Prerequisites:

NEW candidates to the program need to respond to all items below, submitting photocopies of course completion, certifications, etc, to the Course Coordinator.

AD candidates must have a sponsoring agency and be signed up by that agency in order to attend.

  1. Basic Fire Suppression Orientations, S-110.
  2. Standards for Survival, S-132.
  3. Basic Fire Behavior, S-190.
  4. Incident Command System, I-200.
  5. Current Red Card.
  6. Current Emergency Medical Technician certification.
  7. Nominee must be currently active with an emergency medical care-providing agency and must provide proof of such.

Returning IMS Technicians, Assistants and Managers need only to submit a nomination form with photocopies of EMT card and Red Card. NOTE: NWCG training nomination form is required for all individuals desiring to attend the course.
